about

To me, DED feels like the lovechild between dark glitchy umru/arca-esque hyperpop, 90s R&B, and alt pop like Rina Sawayama all rolled into one. This song is about the cyclical nature of toxic relationships and how even when you think you've made genuine real progress in soothing your relationships to make them healthier again, you always end up at the same place you started at some point or another and have to reteach yourself what it's like to be a better version of yourself for other people.

lyrics

Never will I know what I never know, but
(I'll be your silver coin, baby)
I've done this a thousand times before
(Nothing new, same shit, different interests)
I always say never again, but the blackbird's back for more
(Look at me, are you who you believe you are?)
The abyss stares back, I spin, and I feel you escape me
(Gone)
Addicted to fools' gold, baby

If we just attract what we give off,
How do I move into a new space?
